I have a very distinct and stong method of develoipment and project management that very successful.
Here are some Key Core consepts that you MUST get through your head.
Let's begin with "Completion Date". If you came here to find a system to farther support your lazy microwave projectmanagement style with rediculas notions of Completion Dates. Completion dates cannot be set by Management, Project Managers or Developers. The instant they claim a date and write it down they are wrong and have sealed their failure. Trying to drive development to a date is garanteed failure of product quilaity, features and purpose. Such notions are rock solid proven to be crap! Driveing to a date only cause developers to not care and look for jobs elsewhere. Using a completion date is lazy! It is cop-out. It provides no way to meassure or monitor the project. It is an ALL or NOTHING and has no connection to the actual project. Then I have this to say. Evolve or continue to fail! If you are not going to toss that "Completion Date" crap out right now then the rest of this is pointless and I can point you to a list of sympatetic Projemenment tools that are willing to drain you dry of all your Time and Money, enjoy and good ridence! Yes (YOU) be gone if you will not abandon your masochistic Completion date. There is no place for a Completion date here and you will not get one.
Multitasking is impossible. It is another lazy approach to Project Management. As a PM that just dumps all the projects on the dev and hopes he can sort out what to work on. Yeah, right. Each developer can work on ONE AND ONLY ONE TASK at a time. Period, end of story. The total amount of effort and lost preforamnce in trying to force a task switching fast enough to appear like multitasking degrades the progress of all tasks involved due to the blocking and gateing work required to stop and start tasks. This can extend the amount of time taken to complete each task by 100% compared to doing them sequentially. We are only human and do only one thing at a time. This is critial.
Otherwise open the door to a new future and really getting something done.
